Georgia Gives Day was yesterday and it was a great success! NeighborWorks Columbus would like to take this time to thank each of you that gave. It is great role models like you that keep the community on the path of giving back. NeighborWorks Columbus and non-profits around the world are thankful for individuals like you.
By giving to a nonprofit organization, you are able to support causes which you feel are important directly, without having to become physically involved. There are so many great examples of this:
You might not be a doctor, but you can help to search for a cure for childhood leukemia by donating to an organization such as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
You might not have a ton of money, but you can make a small donation to Feeding America and help to feed several hungry American's.
Something I read recently has stuck with me this week, "When you are able, do not miss the opportunity to extend your hand when you see someone is short a few dollars at the checkout stand. Don’t offer, just hand the clerk what is needed… Every so often throughout your day, every day, reach down and pick up a starfish and toss it back into the ocean! Like the little boy said in the story of the starfish, “It makes a difference to him!” It is the stuff like this story that help in achieving results for the world.
How will you give back this Holiday season? Name some organizations you have donated to in the past?
